Wendy McClanahan Presents at the Community Service Society of New York’s “Working for Change” Forum
On July 18, Wendy McClanahan, P/PV’s vice president for research, served as a panelist for the Community Service Society of New York’s “Working for Change” forum called What Works?: Evaluating Programs Targeting Disconnected Youth in Washington, DC. Presenting to an audience of congressional staff, policy advocates and academics, McClanahan spoke about program evaluation and how the lessons from P/PV’s work can inform viable policy solutions.

This report was inspired and informed by discussions that took place during the Mayors Summit on Reentry and Employment, as well as P/PV’s experience in the field and a review of pertinent literature. > Amachi
In 2001, P/PV launched Amachi, an innovative partnership between secular and faith-based organizations working together to provide mentoring to children of incarcerated parents. P/PV has assisted more than 350 programs in all 50 states; these programs have provided mentors for more than 100,000 children.

> Mayors Summit on Reentry and Employment
The Summit, which was held in New York City on February 28, 2008, was convened to share promising solutions, encourage action to address the impact of prison and jail reentry on localities, and identify ways that Cities and Mayors can influence state and national discussions of reentry.

> Ready4Work
(Prisoner Reentry Initiative)
A 17-site project that supports the reentry and reintegration of ex-prisoners into their communities, including employment services, case management and mentoring.


> Women's Reentry Initiative
This pilot is designed to provide women with individually tailored, comprehensive and integrated services in areas deemed crucial to successful reentry.

> Youth Education for Tomorrow (YET) Literacy
A Philadelphia-based project involving 20-plus YET Centers, operated by community-based organizations after school and during the summer.

Council of State Governments Reentry Report
The Council of State Governments established the Reentry Policy Council to help states deal with the increasing numbers of people leaving prisons and jails. Its recently released report provides bipartisan recommendations based on input from a wide range of experts.
